BALL Watch Company is known for its numerous patented technologies such as the SpringLOCK Anti-Shock System, mechanical thermometer (TMT), Amortiser Anti-Shock System, and self-powered micro gas tubes. Now the company has developed a new patented technology called CarboNANO. Implemented in the Engineer III CarboLIGHT model , it combines two very innovative materials: carbon fiber and mu-metal. Extremely light, the watch’s carbon fiber case is highly resistant to corrosion and wear. In addition to being light and sturdy, the case also features a black color that gives it a unique and distinctive appearance. The case is made from CarboLIGHT, a special Mumetal & Carbide composite. This revolutionary material is made by compressing together layers of carbon fiber with Polyether Ether Ketone, a high-end polymer known as PEEK.

For the first time ever in a watch, carbon fiber is combined with mu-metal. Comprised of nickel, iron, copper and chromium, the alloy is praised for its excellent anti-magnetic properties that are superior to the soft iron usually used in watchmaking. Both CarboLIGHT and IronLIGHT models feature a mu-metal ring surrounding the movement and providing an anti-magnetic protection up to 80,000 A/m. In addition to the mu-metal shield, the movements of the two watches are also protected by BALL’s Amortiser anti-shock system. This patented system absorbs the energy created by side shocks and allows the rotor to be locked and unlocked as desired.
