Ball for BMW – engineered for perfection

Cars and watches – such an awesome combination, don’t you think? Especially when one of the most popular German high-performance cars is involved: BMW. The Ball Watch Company teamed up with the automaker and produced the Ball for BMW collection, featuring durable watches that boast the revolutionary Amortiser System which protects the movement against any extreme shocks. The collection comprises three models, as well as a special limited edition timepiece.

First, let’s take a look at the Classic model. This 40 mm stainless steel case watch comes in a rather simple, but attractive styling. No numerals on the dial; instead there are numerals complemented with BMW logo at the bottom left portion of the dial. The dial itself comes in four colors: black, blue, grey and silver. As far as the choice of band is concerned, buyers are presented with tapered stainless steel bracelet or crocodile leather strap with folding buckle. Inside the watch is the automatic caliber ETA 2892-A2, with chronometer certification. Aside from the previously mentioned Amortiser System, there is also one more peculiar feature – the dial is equipped with 12 special micro gas tubes on hour and minute hands and dial, which greatly helps at nighttime.

Pretty neat! GMT

Next, we have a slightly more complicated watch – the GMT. At 42 mm, the case diameter is slightly bigger than the Classic’s, and water resistance at 100 meters is double of the Classic’s. The watch is made either from stainless steel or diamond-like carbon (DLC). Again, automatic movement was used, although not exactly the same (ETA 2893-2). The overall design of the GMT is more sport-oriented, with nice little details on the dial such as emphasized indexes, and the inclusion of chronometer. The dial comes in black or silver, while the band choice is vast with tapered stainless steel bracelet, rubber strap or crocodile leather strap with folding buckle.

Power Reserve is pretty straight-forward with its name

Fans of sports watches are going to love the Power Reserve model. As the name suggests, the watch has a special power reserve indicator on its dial, which tells you how much of the maximum 42 hours you have left to use. Coincidentally, the number is also the size of the case, which is offered in stainless steel, DLC or gold (classy!). Inside, there is an automatic caliber ETA 2897, with chronometer certification. Again, we have the gas tubes on the dial for better visibility at night, and the presence of the Amortiser System in the movement. The water resistance is excellent – 100 meters will be more than enough for your everyday needs, and possibly even more extreme ones.

-40 Degrees? Piece of cake - the TMT model

Finally, there’s the limited edition model – the TMT. Only 1,000 units will be available. What makes this watch special compared to others from the collection (aside from its availability) is the special thermometric indicator at the 6 ‘clock position. The timepiece can withstand extreme temperatures from -40o C to +50o C. Impressive! At 44 mm, this is quite a big watch, and it comes in stainless steel with DLC coating. Durable sapphire crystal protects the dial, and also another durable aspect of the watch is the rubber strap. The dial only comes in black, while the thermometric indicator can show temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit scale. Overall, the Ball for BMW collection offers a wide variety of excellent timepieces, from those more simplistically-oriented to true rugged watches. And all that with the great BMW charm. Can’t beat that.
