Baselworld 2018 is just little over a month away, and as it gets closer we are seeing more and more brands announcing their new watches. At the upcoming watch fair, French watchmaker Bell & Ross will introduce several novelties including the new BR03-94 Horolum and BR03-92 Horoblack timepieces. With these two models, Bell & Ross is expanding its Horo collection started last year with the BR03-92 Horograph and BR03-92 Horolum. The name “Horo” is a nod to the brand’s concept of using matt micro blasted steel on the cases and dials, as well as a sandwich dial for an optimal legibility.

The latest Bell & Ross timepieces reflect the spirit of the brand’s signature instrument watches. Each case is designed in a modern style, featuring the iconic “a circle in a square” design that is reminiscent of the shape of a cockpit instrument taken from an aircraft. Both watches have micro blasted steel cases and dials, which gives them a cool monobloc effect. Steel blasting is done by high-pressure spraying tiny glass beads on the metal’s surface. This procedure gives the metal a uniform appearance and a highly pure grey tone. Its matte finish is not just anti-reflective, but also avoids reverberations in the sun. As for the sandwich dials, they consist of two superimposed metal plates. Thanks to this construction, the BR03-94 Horolum and BR03-92 Horoblack are perfectly readable under any conditions. Designed according to the principles of industrial design, the watches reflect modernity and purity.

Limited to 500 pieces, the Bell & Ross BR03-94 Horolum (ref. BR0394-GR-ST/SCA) has a 42mm stainless steel case that is water resistant to 100 meters. The most eye-catching feature of this watch is the attractive green luminous material on the hands, indices and Arabic numerals (the latter two are painted on the bottom plate). The green tinted Super-LumiNova C3 is ultra-phosphorescent, lasts very long in the dark and allows a persistent reading during the nighttime. This very same intense green color is also used for lighting aircraft landing strips. As for the dial’s layout, it includes hours, minutes, small seconds at 3, 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 and date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. Completing the dial is a tachymeter scale on the flange. Inside the BR03-94 Horolum is the calibre BR-CAL.301. – a 4Hz self-winding movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The watch is presented on a gray-green calfskin strap.

The Bell & Ross BR03-92 Horoblack (ref. BR0392-GBL-ST/SRB) is issued as a limited edition of 999 pieces. The 42mm matt micro blasted steel case is the same as on the BR03-94 Horolum model. The dial, though, is a bit different. Here we have a more simpler design with only hours, minutes, seconds and date (between 4 and 5). The hands, indices, and Arabic numerals are all coated with black Super-LumiNova. The black and gray contrast is very eye-friendly and guarantees optimal readability. The BR03-92 Horoblack is powered by the calibre BR-CAL.302. This self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Completing this timepiece is a black leather strap.
