Bell & Ross introduces three new R.S.18 chronographs

Motor Racing - Renault Sport F1 Team Filming Day - Barcelona, Spain

To celebrate the third year of its partnership with Renault Sport Formula One Team, Bell & Ross has created three special edition watches: the BR03-94 R.S.18, the BR-X1 R.S.18, and the BR-X1 Tourbillon R.S.18. Bold and sophisticated, these sporty chronographs demonstrate Bell & Ross’ bond with the world of Formula One and the brand’s innovative watchmaking attitude. Unlike the previous dedicated pieces, which were inspired by Renault’s iconic colors and steering wheel of the Renault RS17 F1 car respectively, the new R.S.18 watches take inspiration from one of the main parts of a Formula 1 car – the chassis.

Just like a chassis of a Formula 1 racing car, the new Bell & Ross R.S.18 watches are designed to be both light and strong. Their cases have been manufactured from perforated micro blasted titanium which gives them a cool, modern matt look. The watches are chronographs, a logical choice since measuring short intervals of time embodies the impression of speed. The chronographs are activated with push buttons that resemble the paddles on a Formula 1 steering wheel. All three watches feature legible dials with a few details evocative of the world of motorsport. The chronograph functions are accentuated in Renault’s signature yellow. And finally, each Bell & Ross R.S.18 watch comes on a newly-designed black perforated rubber strap. Secured with a microblasted titanium pin buckle, this strap offers superb comfort on the wrist thanks to its unique ergonomics and great level of breathability.

The Bell & Ross BR03-94 R.S.18 (ref. BR0394-RS18) is 42mm wide and (like all models) water resistant to 100 meters. The timepiece features a high-tech carbon fiber dial that displays hours, minutes, small seconds at 3, 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 and date between 4 and 5 o’clock. Inside the watch is the calibre BR-CAL.301. with 37 jewels. This self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Limited to 999 pieces, the BR03-94 R.S.18 retails at $6,500.

Housed in a slightly larger 45mm case, the Bell & Ross BR-X1 R.S.18 (ref. BRX1-RS18) is issued as a limited edition of 250 pieces. The pushers here are equipped with a yellow rubber insert. To ensure optimum ergonomics when using the chronometer functions, the brand has added a yellow rubber thumb grip at 9 o’clock. Underneath the sapphire crystal lies a beautiful skeletonized dial. The layout is similar to the one on the BR03-94 R.S.18, with the only difference being the position of the date window (6 o’clock). Powered by the self-winding calibre BR-CAL.313 (4Hz, 42-hour power reserve), the Bell & Ross BR-X1 R.S.18 is priced at $21,500.

And last but not least is the new Bell & Ross BR-X1 Tourbillon Chronograph R.S.18 (ref. BRX1-CHTB-RS18). Certainly the most eye-catching of the three, this model has a large 45mm case. Like on the BR-X1 R.S.18, the case is equipped with a yellow rubber thumb grip at 9 o’clock. The “star of the show” here is the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. With its cage is secured to an axis, it gives the impression that it is floating in mid-air. The entire dial is skeletonized to reveal the futuristic gear train of its high-tech movement. And speaking about the movement, the watch is powered by the calibre BR-CAL.283 – a 3Hz hand-wound movement with a power reserve of approximately 96 hours. The watch is limited to only 20 pieces and retails at a whopping $189,000.
