Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Majestic, Celestial and Tourbillon watches

Coming from the workshop of Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux are three new feminine models: Cat’s Eye Majestic Aventurine, Cat’s Eye Celestial Aventurine, and Cat’s Eye Tourbillon Aventurine. Featuring mesmerizing blue aventurine dials, these ladies’ watches pay tribute to the Venetian island of Murano – the birthplace of aventurine. Also known as goldstone, this type of glass was discovered by chance (Italian a ventura) in Murano in the 18th century. As one story goes, a glassmaker accidentally spilled copper filings into the traditional mixture of silica, soda and incandescent lime. The result was the creation of a stunning glittering glass.

Each model features a stunning aventurine dial evocative of a summer night

The Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Majestic Aventurine (ref. 80493D52A1827CK4A) has a 40 x 34.7 mm pink gold oval case. The case is water resistant to 30 meters and features elegant tapered lugs and a bezel set with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds. Evocative of a summer night, the stunning aventurine dial features a mesmerizing color hovering between blue and black. Decorated with 24 drop-shaped brilliant-cut diamonds, the dial displays hours and minutes. The new Cat’s Eye Majestic Aventurine is powered by the caliber GP03300-0121 with 27 jewels. Visible through the transparent sapphire case back, the movement features a gold oscillating weight decorated with the “GP tapestry” motif. This self-winding mechanism beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. Completing the watch we have a stylish midnight blue alligator leather strap secured by a pink gold folding clasp.

The watch has a 35 x 30.4 mm pink gold case decorated with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds and, like the Majestic model, is water resistant to 30 meters and features a transparent case back. The aventurine dial here is set with 33 brilliant-cut diamonds. In addition to hours and minutes, the dial also displays the moon phase. The moon is represented with a white mother of pearl disk. Ticking inside this watch is the in-house developed caliber GP03300-0125 with 32 jewels. Comprised of 240 components, the self-winding movement works at 4Hz frequency and has a 46-hour power reserve. Like the Majestic model, the Cat’s Eye Celestial Aventurine is presented on a blue alligator leather strap with pink gold folding clasp.

The diamonds on the dial are evocative of shooting stars. In addition to the two central hands and diamond decoration, the dial also features tourbillon at 6 o’clock. The latter also serves as a small seconds counter. The Cat’s Eye Tourbillon Aventurine is powered by the caliber GP09700-0015 – a 3Hz manual-winding movement with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
