Girard-Perregaux ww.tc Only Watch 2011
Tonight, on Only Watch TV, we present you Girard-Perregaux ww.tc Only Watch 2011! Things are really heating up and expect us to gradually show you every single unique piece from 39 participants of this year’s charity auction dedicated to the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Now, come to think of it, there probably is not a group of people better versed in this debilitating disorder than watch aficionados. Apart from those unfortunate souls and their families affected with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy of course.
As for Girard-Perregaux, the famous manufacture chose their worldwide time control collection as a platform for their new foray into the charity waters. Furthermore, the use of titanium oxide for this one of a kind watch marks a new first for Girard-Perregaux. Last we saw another offspring from the worldwide time control collection in this spectacular incarnation, but I must admit that the Only Watch piece certainly has a charm of its own. It is always interesting to see just how wide can you stretch the seemingly rigid parameters of ww.tc collection design.
In this particular case, the only thing that would connect this unique piece with its roots is (well, obviously) the cities ring as well as the two colored ring indicating the time in 24 time zones. On the cities ring Monaco is, naturally, highlighted in its traditional red color. Another uniqueness of this one of a kind timepiece is evident in materials employed in its manufacture. Ultra-light titanium oxide was used to produce the white single-piece watch-case middle of the ww.tc Only Watch 2011 and the case itself is made of no less than 40 parts, including fancy ceramic bezel and a titanium internal protective container!
It was only fitting that this advanced 43 mm case protects an equally special movement. Girard-Perregaux GP03387 was selected to power this extraordinary piece. An automatic movement, 450 parts GP03387 calibre features display of the date, small seconds, world times with day/night indicator and a “fly-back” chronograph. It beats at 28,800 vph and has a minimum of 46 hours power reserve. It can be marveled at through a case-back in smoked sapphire crystal. Rounding up this sport’s theme is a black rubber strap with folding buckle in black DLC titanium.
