The Swiss manufacturer has enriched its offer with their latest accomplishment –  The H. Moser Venturer Big Date. The watch represents a simplified version of their infamous Endeavour Perpetual Calendar model. Depraved of its more elegant functions, the modified movement now features just the date complication. By doing so, watchmakers at H. Moser wanted to propose the very core of the of their signature calendar movement at a more approachable price. The newest addition to the Venturer series features that specific look synced with the characteristics that have established the success of the collection: uncluttered lines, an arched profile with a convex sapphire crystal, a classy bezel that opens up the dial entirely and the-off centre small seconds at 6 o’clock, referring to the beautiful looks of old pocket watches.

The newest timepiece nurtures that specific Venturer look

As being mentioned in its name, the new timepiece is all about reading date display – which by the way has never been easier and clearer. The essential part of the movement, like in all the company’s watches, is the Flash Calendar mechanism. Unlike other calendars which change slowly, the brands trademark system changes from one date to the next in a part of a second. This allows immediate date leap at midnight and the opportunity for a user to alter the date forward or backward without any limit – making the movement very hard to damage. Manual adjustments are now possible at any moment, even if the date is in the process of switching, by using the crown. The risk-free changing is accomplished with the complex clutch system which isolates, and by that protects, the date alternation system. The company’s in-house built Double Pull Crown mechanism ensures remarkable precision when altering the date. Even when the date is changing it is still possible to safely modify the time, as it is mandatory to pull out the crown, shortly release it, and then pull it out for a second time to adjust the time on the watch.

Date and time are easily manageable by using the crown

The mechanism that stands behind all the magic is the in-house made hand-wound caliber HMC 100. Noticeable through the sapphire case-back the double barrel of this movement grants the Venturer Big Date a power reserve of 7 days. It features hours and minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock, power reserve indicator and the main element – a big date with flash calendar at 3 o’clock. Under the date window a set of 2 superimposed discs can be found. The upper disc contains numbers from 1 to 15 while the second one has the numbers from 16 to 31. A neat solution indeed, granting that each number is entirely centered when displayed in the window.

Limited in size the watch must use 2 discs with date numerals

The latest Venturer piece is placed in a 18-carat red gold, three-part 41.5mm casing. Under the curved crystal we can see the elegant dial, available in an argenté or red-gold fumé with sunburst pattern, further highlighted by the bezel, which has been deprived to its basics. Closing this masterpiece we have an elegant hand-stitched brown alligator leather along with 18-carat solid red gold pin buckle engraved with the distinctive Moser logo.
