Independent Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie. is a company with a very interesting history. One would think that the company that made “the most Swiss watch ever created” was founded in Switzerland, but its birthplace is actually Russia :) . To celebrate its Russian roots, as well as the centenary of the October Revolution, which led to the nationalization of the brand in 1918, H. Moser & Cie. has decided to create a very special timepiece – the Venturer XL Stoletniy Krasniy. The watch itself represents a link between the company’s past and present. Combining the style of 1917 Russia with the aesthetic codes of today’s H. Moser watches, the new Venturer XL Stoletniy Krasniy is a throwback to the brand’s origins, where it was at the height of success.

Heinrich Moser founded H. Moser & Cie. in Saint Petersburg in 1828. In just a few years, the company expanded and he was selling his watches in his own stores in Moscow, Kiev, and Nizhny Novgorod, and also through a vast network of independent retailers within the Russian Empire and along the Silk Road. H. Moser & Cie. supplied the Imperial Court and the Russian army. During his lifetime, Heinrich Moser sold more than 500,000 watches! More than just a watch company, H. Moser & Cie. was a synonym for quality and elegance. The brand had such a reputation that the word “Moser” became the generic Russian term for a high-quality watch. The company was also an indispensable part of Russia’s culture, as it is mentioned in numerous songs and texts of the time.

Now back to the future, I mean present :) . The new H. Moser & Cie. Venturer XL Stoletniy Krasniy (Centenial Red) has a 43mm stainless steel case. Water resistant to 30 meters, the three-part case features a see-through sapphire crystal case-back and crown decorated with an “M”. As for the dial, it features a typical H. Moser & Cie. minimalist design with only two leaf-shaped hands for hours and minutes. The red color on the fumé sunburst dial is an homage to the iconic red of Russia, “krasniy”, a word which shares its roots with “beautiful” (“krasiviy”). Completing the dial is H. Moser & Cie.’s original Cyrillic logo.
