Since 2013, Hublot has been a sponsor and official timekeeper of the world-renowned Bol d’Or Mirabaud regatta. Featuring highly skilled yachtsmen and women competing against each other, themselves and the winds, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is a perfect representation of Hublot’s sport oriented philosophy. The prestigious regatta is also the opportunity for the Nyon based manufacturer to demonstrate its dedication to its Geneva roots and passion for sailing. After all, the brand’s name is Hublot, which is the French word for porthole :) . To celebrate this year’s race, Hublot is launching the new Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud 2017. The latest Hublot watch is issued as a limited edition of only 79 pieces. Three of these 79 timepieces will be presented to the winners of the Bol de Vermeil, the ACVL-SRS Trophy and the Bol d’Or Challenge.

Established in 1939, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is one of the most important inland lake regattas in the world. This year (June 16 to 18), the event celebrates its 79th edition. Like each year, the regatta starts from the Port Noir in Geneva. From there on, the participants will take on a 123 kilometer (66.5 nautical miles) route to Le Bouveret and back to Geneva. More than 500 single-hull and multihull boats will participate in this year’s regatta, all supervised from by 100 volunteers and 20 boats from the Geneva Yacht Club. Those who are interested in following the Bol d’Or Mirabaud 2017 can watch the start of the race from the banks of Lake Geneva where Hublot has created a pop-up shop. For those interested to watch, but unable to watch it in person, there is a live video and map showing the progress of the competitors on the website and the Bol d’Or Mirabaud YouTube channel.

Now back to the watch. The new Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud 2017 is housed in a large 45 mm satin-finished and polished titanium case. Water resistant to 50 meters, the watch features a blue ceramic bezel secured with the one of the brand’s signature features – the H-shaped screws. On the back of the watch we have a transparent sapphire caseback decorated with a printed Bol d’Or Mirabaud logo. The back bezel is engraved with the limited edition number. Beneath the front sapphire glass is a blue texalium (an innovative fiberglass-based material) dial. As for the layout, it is pretty much standard as with all Classic Fusion Chronograph models – hours, minutes, small seconds at 3 o’clock, date at 6 and 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock.

Partly visible through the caseback, this self-winding movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and enables a power reserve of 42 hours. Completing the new Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud 2017 is a sporty blue rubber and blue texalium strap decorated with white stitching. The strap is secured with a stainless steel deployant buckle clasp.
