Less than two months are left until the start of the biggest sporting event of the year – the 2018 FIFA World Cup. From 14 June to 15 July, Russia will host 32 of world’s best national football teams as well as fans and visitors from all around the globe. As the event’s official timekeeper, Hublot has created a special dedicated timepiece – the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia (ref. 400.NX.1100.RX). Issued as a limited edition of 2,018 numbered pieces, this smart watch will instantly connect its user to every important moment of the matches being played at the upcoming tournament. Priced at CHF 5,000, the latest Hublot creation will be available from 1 May, 2018 in the brand’s sales outlets.

The new Hublot Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia can notify the wearer when a match is about to start (15 minutes before the kick-off), player substitutes, yellow and red cards, and of course goals and their scorers. The latter is announced by vibration and display of the word GOAL instantly every time one is scored. The smart watch features a 35.4mm AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels (287 ppi). There are 32 dials inspired by the flags of the participating teams, as well as two neutral ones. Each dial is available in analog or digital version. With just a swipe of the finger, the user can easily select his/her team or closely follow a competitor. The Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia runs WearOS and is compatible with iPhones (iOS 9 and newer) and Android phones (4.4 minimum).

Besides the 2,018 numbered pieces, Hublot has also created smart watches which will be worn by the referees. In addition to the functions available on the “regular” versions, the referee’s models will also be connected to the goal-line technology – an electronic video assistance system used to determine if the ball has completely crossed the goal line or not. The Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia has already been tested during the matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2017 and FIFA Confederations Cup 2017. The upcoming tournament in Russia will be the perfect opportunity for this smart watch to showcase its full potential.
