IWC Schaffhausen has just added three new pieces to its highly acclaimed Pilot’s Watch collection. The first, and most exclusive of the three models, is the Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” (ref. IW502706). A tribute to the French poet and pioneering aviator, this special edition is limited to 250 pieces. With this model, the Schaffhausen brand continues its partnership with the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation – an organization dedicated to improving the everyday lives of children and young people. Both the watchmaker and foundation firmly believe that education and knowledge can give young people a great chance to succeed later in life. Special editions in honor of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry have been a regular feature at IWC since 2006.

The annual calendar requires only one adjustment a year – at the end of February

The watch itself is house in a large 46.2mm 18K red gold case. Water resistant to 60 meters, it features a large screw-in crown and transparent sapphire caseback. Through the latter, the user can admire the movement and its 18K red gold rotor in the form of a Lockheed P-38 Lightning – the aircraft that Antoine de Saint-Exupéry flew on his last reconnaissance mission. Underneath the front sapphire crystal lies a tobacco brown dial with gold-plated hands and indexes. The dial displays hours, minutes, small seconds at 9, and power reserve at 3 o’clock. Positioned at 12 o’clock is the annual calendar display with three separate windows showing the month, date and day. Ticking inside the watch is the caliber 52850, IWC’s in-house self-winding  movement with a large power reserve of 7 days. The Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” is presented on a stylish Santoni brown calfskin strap.

The next new model is the Big Pilot’s Watch Heritage. Inspired by the design of the historic Big Pilot’s Watch (Calibre 52 T.S.C.) from the 1940s, the timepiece is available in two versions: titanium (ref. IW501004) and bronze (ref. IW501005). The bronze model is limited to 1,500 pieces. Both versions measure 46.2mm in diameter and feature the same black dial with blue luminous hands. The highly legible displays hours, minutes, seconds, date at 6, and power reserve at 3 o’clock. Both watches are powered by IWC’s caliber 52110 with 36 jewels. This self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 7 days. The new IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Heritage comes on a brown calfskin strap.

Finally we have the new Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Heritage (ref. IW327006). This particular version is the first ever Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII model to come in titanium. The timepiece is 40mm wide and has a black dial with blue hands coated with luminous material. The dial itself is simple and straightforward, displaying only hours, minutes, seconds and date at 3 o’clock. Powering the watch is the caliber 35111. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Completing the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Heritage is a brown calfskin strap.
