Two years ago, Swiss watchmaker Breitling entered the smartwatch market by launching its first connected chronograph – the Exospace B55. With this model, the brand introduced a new philosophy of placing the smartphone in the service of the smartwatch, enhancing its functionality and, ultimately, reimagining the smartphone as an accessory for the watch. Highly functional and user-friendly, this high performance pilot’s chronograph further established the company’s clear leadership role in electronic technology for watches. After the original model, and a version designed for motor enthusiasts, Breitling is now proud to introduce the third member of the Exospace family – the Exospace B55 Yachting (ref. EB5512221B1S1).

The new Breitling Exospace B55 Yachting is specially designed and manufactured for yachting enthusiasts and regatta competitors who appreciate high quality multifunctional instruments. The watch features both analog and digital displays (12- and 24-hour LCD displays), all visible through a scratch-resistant double AR-coated sapphire crystal. The LCD displays both have a white backlighting system that can be activated by pressing the crown or just simply tilting the wrist. Featuring the flyback function, the chronograph is highly accurate (plus/minus 10 milliseconds) and can measure up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. It also features an electronic tachymeter and can be used to track lap and split times. The stored split times can be easily read on the watch’s digital screen or, when the timepiece is connected to a smartphone, on the phone’s screen.

In addition to these functions, the chronograph is also equipped with an innovative countdown system featuring audio, visual, and vibrating alarms and indications. If a countdown is stopped, it is easy to re-sync the timepiece to the new countdown when it resumes. Thanks to the notched bidirectional rotating bezel, it is easier for users to perform critical calculations regarding wind direction, sailing angle, and the optimal position on the starting line of a regatta.

The watch features both analog and digital displays

The new Breitling Exospace B55 Yachting can easily be synchronized with a smartphone using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The Exospace B55 Android and iOS applications both support data transfer and allow settings to be configured remotely. Such a two-way communication allows the phone and watch to create a complementary pair in which each side is used for what it does best. Using their smarphones, the users can set time, time zones, alarms, display preferences, and operating parameters. Conversely, they can also upload different measurements from the watch directly to their smart device. This allows them to more easily read, store or forward the data. The Breitling Exospace B55 Yachting can also be used for receiving notifications from the smartphone regarding incoming messages, e-mails, phone calls and various reminders.

Housed in a 46mm titanium case, the latest Breitling watch is powered by the brand’s in-house made Caliber B55, that, for this occasion, has been redesigned for yachting professionals who were actively involved in the development process. Powered by a rechargeable battery, this COSC-certified SuperQuartz™ movement is ten times more accurate than a standard quartz mechanism. The watch comes on either a blue rubber strap or titanium bracelet. The version with the strap retails for €6,800.00 while the all-titanium model is priced at €7,300.00.
