Swiss watchmaker Corum has recently partnered up with the acclaimed composer and orchestrator Joachim Horsley. Mr. Horsley has scored over 25 short and feature movies, arranged songs for John Legend and Michael Bublé, orchestrated Ben Folds’ Piano Concerto, and even has a YouTube channel for his own arrangements. His piece “Beethoven In Havana”, a Cuban-inspired reinterpretation of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, has been viewed over ten million times in the first six months of its release. To mark the beginning of the collaboration with Joachim Horsley, Corum has decided to create a special dedicated piece – the Golden Bridge Joachim Horsley. The latest Corum watch was officially unveiled at the iconic Parisian cabaret music hall Folies Bergère on 15 February 2018.

The new Corum Golden Bridge Joachim Horsley comes in two limited editions: one in white gold and the other in pink gold. However, the brand is yet to confirm the exact limitations, availability and pricing. Housed in a rectangular 29.50mm x 42.20mm case, the watch is water resistant to 30 meters and features a transparent sapphire caseback. Underneath the front sapphire crystal lie a beautifully skeletonized dial. The movement has all its parts stacked up in a column-like shape. The signature bridge structure that supports the movement is made of white/pink gold and decorated with a variety of engravings. The spring barrel is located at 12 while the escapement is at 6 o’clock. Due to the orientation of the movement, the crown is positioned at 6 o’clock.

The Golden Bridge Joachim Horsley is the first Corum piece to have a metallic decoration on its sapphire case back. The display case back depicts an extract from the original score of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony. What’s especially cool about this case back is that it can be easily personalized. The Swiss brand has given its customers (whether they are music lovers or not :) ) an opportunity to make their own Golden Bridge based on the same model. The customers can choose a different score, motif, letters, or even add a custom coat of arms or emblem. By enabling this, the company is taking yet another step to enhance the potential for personalization. Collectors are given a chance to create their own unique Corum piece.

This manually wound movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Completing this unique timepiece is a stylish black alligator leather strap secured with  a white/pink gold triple folding clasp. The latest Corum watch is comes in a special presentation case made by the Swiss company called Reuge – the world’s only manufacturer of high-end music boxes and singing birds. Specially designed for Joachim Horsley, the music box plays personally arranged by the artist: compositions by Bach, Mahler and Beethoven reinterpreted as rumbas or with Cuban-inspired beats.
