Founded in 2008, Laurent Ferrier is an independent watch company dedicated to traditional mechanical watchmaking. Featuring a timeless design, the brand’s watches pay homage to an elegant neo-classical style while reflecting mechanical perfection. For a relatively short time, Laurent Ferrier has managed to developed a unique style that escapes the reach of time while giving an original character to each watch thanks to a harmonious set of details. Today Laurent Ferrier continues this trend by introducing the new Galet Micro-Rotor Montre Ecole Regulateur. Available in stainless steel and white gold, the new watch will be available from the brand’s boutiques and official Laurent Ferrier retailer from July 2017. The pricing has not yet been revealed.

The new Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor Montre Ecole Regulateur  is based on the Galet Micro-Rotor Montre Ecole model released earlier this year. Introduced in January, the Montre Ecole (School Piece) is actually inspired by the same-named pocket watch made by Laurent Ferrier during his watchmaker’s training in 1968. The 1968 School Piece featured the traditional 19th century pocket watch design codes and incorporated the techniques and skills that modern traditionalists will never allow to fade. A tribute to his very first creation, the modern Montre Ecole features a case with the same roundness above and below its wrist – an homage to the time when pioneering watchmakers converted their pocket watches into wristwatches as we know them today. After it released the modernized Montre Ecole in January 2017, the young Swiss manufacturer decided use this model as a canvas for further projects. The Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor Montre Ecole Regulateur, the second timepiece to have the School Piece case, features a design that represents a type of clock which would have been used to guide the watchmaker when creating or servicing a timepiece.

Available in white gold or stainless steel, the case is water resistant to 30 meters. On the back of the watch is a transparent sapphire caseback. The latest Laurent Ferrier watch has a beautiful silver-toned dial with vertical satin-brushed finish. Contrasting this decoration are the two recessed counters with their nickel snailed finish. Featuring black Roman numerals, the hour display is positioned at 12 o’clock while the small second subdial is placed at 6 o’clock. The minutes are indicated via a central hand pointed to a slate grey railway track with blue painted Arabic numerals at 15, 30, 45 and 60. All hands are in white gold.
