Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic & Aikon Automatic Chronograph

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 1

Launched in 2016, the Aikon has quickly become one of Maurice Lacroix’s signature pieces. Sporty and elegant design, reliable and precise quartz movement, as well as a highly competitive price, have all contributed to the success of this watch. After launching the first Aikon with an automatic movement earlier this year, Maurice Lacroix is now expanding the range with two more automatic models: the Aikon Automatic and the Aikon Automatic Chronograph. Designed to be modern icons and everyday essentials, the watches demonstrate the brand’s signature design, innovation and craftsmanship. With these two models, Maurice Lacroix continues to introduce watches with a higher perceived value than their price tag would suggest.

The new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters and has a solid screw-down case back. The case itself is mostly satin finished, with its edges and six signature arms on the bezel being polished. The Aikon Automatic is available in three dial variants: blue, silver or anthracite gray. Decorated with a beautiful a Clou de Paris motif, the sun-brushed dials feature rhodium-plated indexes and hands. Each dial displays hours, minutes, seconds and date at 3 o’clock.

Powering the new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic models is the caliber ML115 with 26 jewels. Based on the Sellita SW200, this self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The timepieces are presented on a newly-designed flexible five-link stainless steel bracelet that’s extremely comfortable and suits all wrists. Each model is also available with a calf leather strap: blue (blue dial), brown (silver dial) and black (anthracite gray dial). The user can easily change between the bracelet and strap thanks to the user-friendly EasyChange quick bracelet change system. The models on leather straps retail for $1,890 while the all-steel versions are priced at $1,990.

Sportier and more robust, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Chronograph is slightly larger than the three-hand model, measuring 44mm in diameter. Crafted entirely in steel, the case features the same design as the one on the smaller model with the only difference being the two chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock. The latter are sharp and hexagonal yet smooth to the touch. This watch comes in 5 different versions: two with silver dials (bracelet or blue calf leather strap), two with black dials (bracelet or black calf leather strap), and a version with blue dial and the five-link stainless steel bracelet. The watches with a silver dial feature blue chronograph counters to create the so-called “panda” dial effect. All dials are decorated with small, regular squares.

Ticking inside each model is the caliber ML112 with 25 jewels. Based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture this automatic movement drives hours, minutes, seconds and day and date functions. The movement itself oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and guarantees a power reserve of no less than 48 hours. The versions on leather straps retail for $2,890 while the all-steel models are priced at $2,990.
