The new Mido Multifort Datometer (ref. M036.407.36.031.00) comes as a limited edition of 1,918 pieces – a reference to the year when the Swiss brand was established. Featuring a confident masculine character, the watch is a reissue of the eponymous timepiece released in 1939. Slightly modernized for today’s user’s, the 2018 model retains all the features that have made the Multifort Datometer a classic. The most notable one is the date display. Here, the date is displayed via a red-tipped central hand pointing towards its respective scale on the edge of the dial.

The 2018 Multifort Datometer features a 40mm polished and satin-finished stainless steel case with rose PVD treatment. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters and features a transparent caseback engraved with limited edition number. Underneath the box sapphire crystal lies a beautiful retro-looking silvered and finely sandblasted dial with black transfers and rose gold indexes and hands. The seconds hand features shiny black varnish while the hour and minutes hands are coated with black Super-LumiNova. Inside the watch is the Caliber 80 with 80 hours of power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, this self-winding movement has an oscillating weight decorated with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo. The new Mido Multifort Datometer is presented on a brown natural-looking genuine leather strap.

Next we have the new Commander Shade (ref. M8429.4.27.11). With this special edition, Mido is paying tribute to one of its most iconic pieces. The Commander was introduced in 1959 and has been produced without interruption ever since. According to the Swiss brand, the 2018 model is loosely based on a Commander watch from 1979. The new Commander Shade is housed in an elegant round monocoque case in stainless steel. Measuring 37 mm in diameter, the watch is water resistant to 50 meters and has an acrylic crystal caseback hot-stamped with the Mido logo. Smoked and sunray satin-finished, the stunning dial features a silver centre that gradually becomes darker towards the edges. In addition to the hours, minutes and seconds, the watch also displays day and date in a double window at 3 o’clock.
