Designed for professionals, the BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon DEVGRU is build to “handle the best of the worst”. The watch was created with input from the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, commonly known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six. Established in the aftermath of the Iran hostage crisis, SEAL Team Six is a multifunctional special operations unit specialized in hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, direct action, and counter terrorism. Over the years, the unit has been involved in numerous operations worldwide, including the NATO intervention in Bosnia, the War in Afghanistan, the Maersk Alabama hijacking and many more. In 2011, SEAL Team Six was involved in the Operation Neptune Spear which led to the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. For this action, the unit received the Presidential Unit Citation from then-president Barack Obama.

Sturdy and strong, the BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon DEVGRU is designed to withstand a 10-meter free fall. To achieve this, the brand’s engineers have included several new and redesigned features. The watch is equipped with a new patented SpringSEAL that not only protects the regulator assembly from impact, but also increases the movement’s accuracy. Thanks to this system, the watch will not require additional setting after harsh impact. Another important feature is the new internal elastomer ring that encircles the entire movement and holds it in place. Extending outward and above the dial, this patented shock absorption ring protects the movement and sapphire crystal.

The case of the watch features a special new crown protector. A protective cap covers the crown and ensures it has been properly screwed-in. Finally, we have a redesigned SpringLOCK anti-shock system. Boasting a red color for easy recognition by watchmakers, the system features a cage that protects the balance-spring. The cage limits the unfurling of the coils in case, prevents the spring from twisting and reduces shock impact by 66%.

The BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon DEVGRU is housed in a 42mm stainless steel or titanium carbide coated stainless steel case. Both cases are water resistant to 100 meters and feature a solid caseback engraved with SEAL Team Six logo. The watch is available in two dial options: black and blue. Both options are highly legible, even in dark, thanks to the 14 micro gas tubes on the hour markers and the hour and minute hands. Inside the watch is the caliber BALL RR1102-SL – a Swiss-made self-winding movement with a power reserve of 38 hours. The latest BALL watch is available with a stainless steel bracelet or black rubber strap.
