In addition to being very attractive, the Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art HM Falcon is also highly exclusive, as it is limited to just one piece. The brand will officially introduce its new watch at the upcoming Baselworld 2017. Arnold & Son is yet to announce the price.
The new Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art HM Falcon celebrates the beauty of one of nature’s most magnificent birds of prey. Mankind has always been fascinated with these majestic creatures. In ancient Egypt, the falcon was worshipped as Horus – the god of sky, hunting and war. A major god, Horus was mostly depicted as a falcon-headed man. In other cultures, this animal symbolizes agility, victory and vision. Throughout the history, the falcons have also been used to hunt small animals and birds. The art of falconry dates all the way back to the ancient Mesopotamia and Mongolia. It later expanded to Europe, becoming a sport for nobility. Now in the 21st century, falconry is still a tradition in many parts of the world and there is even an international federation with more than 60,000 members.
The most striking feature of the new Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art HM Falcon is of course its mesmerizing dial. The hand painted dial features a miniature of a falcon proudly perching on a rock against the clear white sky. The dial’s decoration is result of the work of Arnold & Son’s Master Miniature Painter Andre Martinez. For this miniature he used small brushstrokes to slowly texture the dial. The end result is an attractive dial rich with details and depth. The unique technique used for this dial shows how today Arnold & Son preserves and cultivates the highly skilled craftsmanship that has been distinctive of the brand throughout its rich history.
The Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art HM Falcon is placed inside a 40mm 18k rose gold casing. Water resistant to 30 meters, it is available with or without the diamond-set bezel. On the back of the watch there is a transparent sapphire crystal caseback that showcases the movement. And speaking of the movement, the watch is powered by the Calibre A&S1001. Manufactured by Arnold & Son, this hand-wound movement woorks at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and enables a power reserve of 90 hours. The movement also features outstanding Haute Horlogerie finishing such as the fine circular graining and Côtes de Genève rayonnantes, hand-chamfered bridges with polished edges, and blued screws with bevelled and mirror-polished heads. The new Arnold & Son Métiers d’Art HM Falcon is available with a hand-stitched brown or black alligator leather strap.
