Hublot opens 10th boutique in USA, unveils Big Bang Ferrari Texas

Hublot has reached an important milestone on the North American continent – their 10th US boutique was opened recently in the Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas. For this occasion, the company has prepared a special edition of the Big Bang watch that pays tribute to The Lone Star State – the Big Bang Ferrari Texas. With this timepiece, Hublot brought two things together that might seem like they don’t have much in common. That is, unless you’re a fan of Formula 1 racing. Ferrari, whose Official Watch is Hublot, is one of the teams that participated at the recent Grand Prix held at Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

The Ferrari team, through their representative Felipe Massa, was present at the opening of the boutique. Massa had the honor of cutting the ceremonial ribbon, marking the beginning of the new boutique, but also a new interior concept. Hublot did a nice makeover, keeping in mind a warm, elegant concept. Their Houston boutique features a new look with a new combination of materials including silver brushed oak and wool, which were used on the floor, complemented with silky fabric on the walls together with some black wood and chrome steel. No doubt, buyers will certainly feel welcomed and pampered here.

Now, let’s focus on the watch itself. At first sight, this seems like a fairly standard Big Bang, but as look closely you’ll notice couple of things. First, the watch sports the three colors found on the Texas flag: navy blue, red, and white. Furthermore, on the case-back, we can see the Ferrari’s iconic prancing horse, along with the three Texas colors in a circle.

Texas is everywhere on this watch

Also, one of most interesting things about this watch is certainly its UNICO movement, specially made for Big Bang Ferrari line. Namely, it’s the UNICO HUB1241 Flyback chronograph movement, which is actually visible from both the dial and the case-back. The caliber beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and it has a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

As for the case, the watch sports a 45.5 mm case, made of titanium, completed with sleek black ceramic bezel. The latter features a nice vertical satin finish, along with the typical Hublot detail, the 6 titanium H-shaped screws. This is all complemented with a stylish Navy blue Schedoni leather strap, which was actually sewn onto black rubber with blue stitching, providing a nice mix of stylishness and durability. Finally, the water resistance of the watch is 100 meters. It should be mentioned that the Big Bang Ferrari Texas is a limited edition collection, with only 50 pieces available. Each comes in a pretty cool presentation box, which was inspired by a valve support from an engine and is equipped with a built-in rotary system.

Skeleton dial with some neat Ferrari imagery

When it comes to the dial, we’re presented with a complex, skeleton dial complemented with blue satin-finished rhodium-plated indexes and luminescent hands. At 3 o’clock, we can see the minute counter, inside which is the date window. Last, but not least, at 9 o’clock position, there is another instance of the Ferrari’s prancing horse, nicely rounding up the whole look of the watch.
