The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed is a story of simplicity. For almost three hundred years, Jaquet Droz has been incorporating minimalism into its identity. Anticipating the “less is more” principle so beloved by today’s designers, restrained sophistication has been one of the brand’s signature features as well as one of its most important creative principles. This design feature is most notable in the Grande Seconde series. The watches from this collection feature clean, simple dials with two off-centered counters, the hours and minutes at 12 and small seconds at 6 o’clock, that overlap slightly to form an “8”. This avant-garde aesthetic arrangement forms the core of Jaquet Droz’s unique identity. The symbol of eternity and infinity, the figure 8 represents one of the manufacturer’s main numerological references. The design of the two subdials also allows Jaquet Droz to introduce a new way of viewing time by playing with Roman and Arabic numerals. Since the 18th century, the Grande Seconde has been a never-ending source of inspiration for Jaquet Droz.
