Longines Legend Diver Watch 10th anniversary

Founded in 1832, Longines is one of the oldest watch companies in the world. For a brand with such a rich watchmaking tradition, it is not unusual to go back to the past and revisit some of the iconic models that helped in shaping its identity. After all, isn’t that what almost the entire industry is about nowadays? :) One of such iconic models is the Legend Diver Watch. Introduced at the Baselworld 2007, the timepiece is actually a reissue of a diving watch from 1960. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this reissue model, Longines is introducing a new version with a Milanese mesh bracelet. Elegant and stylish, this handsome bracelet gives the diving watch a more “dressy” feel. Priced at around $2,200, the new Legend Diver Watch is available to buy at the authorized Longines retailers.

Ever since it was established, Longines has always been associated with the achievements of pioneers who desired to push the limits even further, particularly in the exploration of underwater world. A redesigned version of a timepiece made during the “golden age” of diving, the Longines Legend Diver Watch perfectly replicates the bold look that made the original model so iconic. While maintaining the typical 1960’s design, Longines has also equipped this watch several modern features to improve legibility, practicality, and water resistance.  This includes a sapphire crystal on the front, as well as a screwed crown and back that guarantees a water resistance of 300 meters. The watch also has an internal bidirectional rotating disc for divers. This feature is activated and locked by one of the crowns, thus making it possible to determine the remaining bottom time.

Other than the new bracelet, there is nothing new about this anniversary Longines Legend Diver Watch. The timepiece has a 42 mm round stainless steel case with internal turning diving bezel. Water resistant to 300 meters, the case features two screw-in crowns and a Screw-down case back embossed with diver symbol. Beneath the sapphire crystal glass is a highly legible black lacquered dial with polished rhodium-plated hour indexes and hands. Coated with luminous materials, the indexes, digits and hands stand attractively against the black background. The dial’s legibility is further enhanced thanks to the clear and simple typography of the 3, 6, 9 and 12 numerals. As for the function, the dial displays hours, minutes and seconds. At 3 o’clock we have a date window.

Powering the anniversary Longines Legend Diver Watch is the well known caliber L633 with 25 jewels. Based on the ETA 2824/2, this self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Completing this vintage-inspired beauty we have three different strap options. The first of course is the steel Milanese mesh bracelet with double security folding clasp and integrated diving extension. The Longines Legend Diver Watch is also available with a black matte cowhide strap with diving buckle, and black rubber strap with double security folding clasp and integrated diving extension.
