For this article we have brought you something from the other side of the ocean . Coming from the Motor City is the new Shinola Runwell Sport Chrono. The Detroit based brand has decided to update one of its bestsellers and offer the watch in a new titanium version. It is in fact, the brand’s first titanium piece to come with a leather strap. Released just in time for the Father’s Day, the latest Shinola creation also features an interchangeable black nylon strap. According to the American brand, the new titanium Runwell Sport Chrono is built to be as tough as dad and represents a perfect gift for a man who’s seen it all.
Started 5 years ago, Shinola is an American luxury lifestyle brand that produces bicycles, watches and various leather goods. When the company was founded in 2011, no American watchmaker was capable of producing timepieces at scale and being a significant player in the market. With its high-quality pieces, the manufacturer aspires to return high-end watchmaking to the US. Although the watches are made in USA, many of their components come from Switzerland. One of the things the brand is most proud of is bringing jobs to America. Shinola firmly believes in the beauty of industry and celebrates the iconic American manufacturing. The choice of Detroit for the company’s headquarters is anything but random as Shinola wanted to honor the city’s rich industrial heritage and start the story of a genuine American brand in a true American city. The company doesn’t just look into the Detroit’s past, but into the future as well, as it actively participates in the community through excellence of craft and pride of work. Following its slogan “Where American is Made”, the company proudly defines American luxury through American quality.
Now let’s focus on the new watch, shall we? The new titanium Runwell Sport Chrono represents an updated version of the original Runwell watch but with sport functions. It is placed in a large 48mm titanium case featuring a dark green turning top ring bezel and screw down crown. The case has a double-curve sapphire crystal and an increased water resistance of 650ft (200m). The black dial features Super-LumiNova hands, Arabic numerals, hour markers as well as the top ring markers.
The watch is powered by the super precise Argonite 5050 quartz caliber. Assembled in the brand’s factory in Detroit, the movement is made from 103 Swiss and other imported components and features hours, minutes, small seconds, date and stopwatch function with 3 subdials. Each movement is hand-made by a highly-skilled watchmaker and is tested at every step of production to ensure top performances. The manufacturer’s latest timepiece is offered with 2 finishing options: the brand’s own Premium American leather strap and a black nylon G-10 NATO strap. Like every Shinola watch, the new Shinola Runwell Sport Chrono also has a lifetime warranty. Available on their website and its retail stores, the new timepiece features an affordable price tag of $1,150.
